Increase frames per second by 5 to reach 80 fps, which improves consistency
I framecap globally and only whitelist to uncap in some games. Definitely give me better frame pacing and temperatures.
Yes, the extra frames require more resources but you still enjoy reduced input lag. It's mainly useful in competitive settings. I also cap my FPS for GSync reasons.
I don't strictly limit my frame rates since I'm comfortable letting my graphics card handle things as it sees fit. But I rely on a mix of G-Sync plus Fast Sync, or more simply variable refresh rate with triple buffering. This approach is the best way to avoid tearing across different frame rates, and I've noticed tearing can be somewhat bothersome.
Usually I keep my FPS unlimited. No VSync, no cap on frames. This applies whether I'm using a regular 60Hz monitor or a standard 60Hz setup. Some titles look sluggish or choppy at 60 FPS, especially from the Source Engine. I’m okay with occasional tearing if it avoids extra input lag or odd frame timing. The only game that limits frames is Skyrim, because I don’t have time to tweak the .ini file for physics problems. Both of my 1080Ti GPUs are undervolted to around 850mV, which is roughly 70% power draw. A 350w vs 500w difference really impacts how comfortable I am in my office, particularly during hot months.
