I use this tool to check if a kit is a B-die. I also received a 2x8GB Vengeance LPX with "Ryzen Ready" and Nanya RAM, which seems to work well with Ryzen. It’s unclear why Nanya chips were chosen over Hynix, but they seem reliable with Ryzen. The linked kits likely have a 99.9% chance of being B-die. My dad ran a 3200 C14-14-14-31 kit for his 1600X and it performed fine. I might have gotten another B-die kit but couldn’t find one at Micro Center.

Check directly where it comes from. Headlines and details might not always be accurate. These brands appear quite similar.

Fascinating... my unit was labeled "Ryzen optimized" but the packaging didn't confirm it, and they're actually from Hynix. Thanks, and yeah, I figured it might be better to post here and wasn't sure where to start (also cool if that seller keeps mixing up details...)

There was once a section mentioning RAM models using Samsung B-dies depending on the number. If you locate one, I think the versions with those are top quality. Regardless, it's RAM and performance is consistent across them.

It seems the B350 board isn't listed in the QVL. Is this a problem or should it still function?

The memory controller is in the cpu, not the chipset ... How the traces (very thin wires) are routed between the cpu socket and the memory slots can affect the maximum frequency and timings that will be supported. The generation of Ryzen processors will also affect things, because again, the memory controller is in the cpu... The b350 boards being some of the first, may not be as well optimized / fine tuned for high frequency ram sticks. If it's a first generation Ryzen, then I'd say it's probably around 70% chances those sticks are gonna run at 3200 Mhz, but maybe you'd have to raise the timings to around 16-18. They'll run at 2933 or 3000 Mhz just fine. If it's second generation ryzen or newer, probably 95% chance they'll run fine on a b350 motherboard. Very unlikely but you may have to play with the timings, use something higher like 16-16...

It seems you're planning to upgrade your system and are considering the timing and compatibility of components. You're thinking about whether adding more RAM would help with performance and if you should look into older "B-die" RAM options, possibly because newer boards aren't available on the QVL. Your goal is to potentially achieve better overclocking with improved memory, though it's uncertain how much that will improve.

It's mainly older designs since Samsung ceased manufacturing them. They've been swapped for A-Dies at 3600mhz, offering a timing range of 16-18-18, quite comparable to micron A dies or Samsung D-dies—most share similar timing configurations. Additionally, modules labeled "AMD ready" often feature the more relaxed sets like 16-18-18, for instance.

Ah ok makes sense… so i should actually try getting 3600 RAMs? Seeing as they're yet again cheaper would make sense I guess, even if its not guaranteed to work at that speed on my mobo? "Trident Z RGB 16GB Kit DDR4-3600 CL16 (F4-3600C16D-16GTZRC)" ^would that be better, but its not "B-die"? (im gonna look that up in a sec) This Ram business is confusing, really not sure why these would be cheaper than 3200 Ram… lol. Edit: Not the B-Team , aha
