Can this setup support 1440p gaming at 144Hz? The components listed match a mid-range build, but 144hz at that resolution may strain the CPU and GPU. Regarding the monitor, it’s a decent option for budget buyers, though you should verify compatibility with your specs before purchasing.

I confidently agree, but you might benefit from additional memory and a more powerful processor.

Relies entirely on the games and their quality. For 2017-18 Triple A matches, that's not the case—especially at lower quality settings. Running at 144 Hz at 1440p uses more pixels per second than 4K at 60Hz, which is challenging for modern 1080 Ti systems in recent games. Upgrading to an SSD is essential.

I tend to enjoy 1440p on older titles such as GTA V, while most current triple-A games usually run at 1080p.

Checking if medium-high graphics settings work well in GTA V at 1440p resolution.

I’m uncertain whether the RAM will handle 1440p at 144Hz in GTA V with medium to high settings. Also, I’m not sure if your display quality is sufficient.

For the Triple A matches I’m aiming for, I’ll play them in 1080p. 1440p works fine for games like GTA V without needing an extremely powerful PC, and for everyday use. I’m a bit concerned about memory usage—uncertain if 8GB will be sufficient.

Currently it's that, but things are getting quite tight. Some of the latest drops are pushing limits. They shouldn't noticeably slow you below 60 FPS on 1080p. You should be fine now, but I’d recommend your board has four RAM slots so you can upgrade later (once prices drop). I’d skip the Optane and stick with a solid Boot SSD—even a 120 Gb one.
