At that time, the Xbox was likely handling streaming data rather than gaming traffic. That could explain the slowdown. High-speed connections like 45 Mbps or more are common, but many users don’t need them for basic use. The pricing seems confusing—Comcast offers unlimited gigabit plans, yet it’s priced high and not convenient for me. I prefer a fixed 1TB monthly plan instead.
Someone was watching TV on the Xbox, which I understand is a download service, but it appears to be showing as an upload and causing network issues. There’s a 30ms ping in Battlefield V with occasional 350ms lag spikes. Turning off the Xbox eliminated the problem. My roommate also experiences lag during his video stream on Tuesday night when he’s doing D&D. It’s not a known issue, just something that happens. In my area, anything below River Road is Cox, while above it Comcast serves. Since I can’t afford a $650k+ home, I live below River Road.
