Team up with Counter-Strike fans! I also hosted a LAN session for the original StarCraft. It was enjoyable, even though we weren't particularly skilled.

I once had friends using laptops connected to mine for playing the original Halo during university. It wasn’t a traditional LAN setup, but it worked fine for me.

It depends on how you define it—being around five people, gaming, and having a drink qualifies as part of the activity. If so, I’ve definitely been there.
