I faced a situation where my games would suddenly drop to 40 instead of the usual 60. I wasn’t sure why it happened, but restoring my game to its original settings resolved the issue.

I encountered a comparable issue with Fallout 4 earlier tonight, feel free to review it again.

That's what I needed to do, I suppose I must have caught something.

I restored my computer since something disrupted my graphics in games. Now everything functions properly.

Confirm your display is set to 144Hz and verify the NVIDIA control panel for adaptive half refresh rate disabled.

Open your Nvidia control panel, navigate to 3D settings for the global game and desired experience. Check the VSync option; if it's active with a half-refresh rate, switch it to either "Program settings" or "Off" based on your preference.

You experienced the same problem across several games. Using "ALT + Enter" appeared to resolve it consistently. Also, verify the VSync setting in the Nvidia control panel—ensure 'On, half-refresh rate' is not checked.
