There are always exceptions. The focus isn't on total count but on per-core performance. Possibly a 15-20% difference? https://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/In...3502vs4041 http://hwbench.com/cpus/amd-ryzen-5-3600...e-i7-6700k It seems the 6700K edges out slightly. Overclocking might be tough, but a boost in frame rates is worth it. The 3600X offers a solid upgrade for higher performance. Newer boards may support Ryzen 4000 too, or wait for X600 chipsets. Personally, the 6700K remains a strong choice. My rig has an 8700K that runs at high speeds. It hits 4000MHz with memory, making it hard to beat in games. The 9900K can be powerful if you have the right setup. 3900X and beyond deliver massive multi-core power.

Theory and observe how gamersnexus Steve reviews real synthetic tests in games. My CPU remains perfectly okay for gaming—I don’t need a Ryzen.

Minimums will rise too, enhancing the overall feel even with mostly 60+ fps. This is particularly helpful for MMOs that are typically single-threaded.
