NFS payback falls short once more
I’ve grown tired of this franchise because every release was highly anticipated yet failed to meet expectations. I fell in love with Payback when I first saw the trailer, wondering if they had learned from past mistakes and created something enjoyable. I downloaded it and got hooked, but even after a few minutes, the game felt sluggish and unstable. The frame rate fluctuated wildly. I tried the prologue mission—just barely—and it improved slightly, but still not great. My setup is powerful (Ryzen 1600X, 16GB RAM, Aorus GTX 1080), yet the game doesn’t run smoothly. Many NFS Payback fans are complaining about the performance too. It feels like a waste of money. I can’t believe they released such a poorly optimized version. What’s going on in their quality control? The game is full of bugs, glitches, and crashes. Despite an engaging story, the presentation is terrible. This is frustrating again!
Same with a 6700k and 1080Ti. Things are better now after all the early missions. The way to boost car performance isn't great...
I'm really frustrated they can mess up an otherwise solid game. I hope they fix it properly, but it's hard to ignore how even powerful systems with high-end specs still experience this lag. It seems like the issue might be related to the HDD streaming, though I've set up a dedicated Samsung 850 EVO drive for the game.
I'm a car painter who's spent a lot of time under hoods, and let me be real—colors are one of the few nice things in this modding scene. The visual upgrades are unlocked already, so it’s not really worth customizing anymore.
