Next AMD processor release...
Are there any recent reliable updates about the upcoming CPUs I've been following on YouTube? I'm trying to stay informed but haven't found much online. From what I understand, the Thread Ripper is expected to be released tomorrow on the 7th, possibly after removing the 3950x chip. Is this accurate? If anyone has solid information on the 3950x, I'd really appreciate it!
This forum discussion wouldn't reveal anything new about the veggie you discovered in a tech news outlet. People like you understand just as much as anyone else does. AMD doesn't share updates on their upcoming product.
A 16-core, 32-thread CPU remains listed on AMD’s site, suggesting a future release. All core boost speeds should be below those of the 3900X, resulting in weaker single-core performance. It runs at a 3.5GHz base clock, though the official maximum boost clock appears inaccurate, and the stated TDP seems overstated. Given its high power density, the actual TDP should exceed that of the 3900X, while real-world max boost clocks would likely be lower than the 3700X.
It still offers more cores and threads even at slower clock speeds, which means it shouldn’t need to push as hard for better results. I was mainly looking for some details, but so far I haven’t found consistent information. There’s a note that Thread River is set to release tomorrow, but not the 3950x model. I was wondering if it would actually launch at all. I planned to purchase the 3900x, but I wanted to wait for the 3950x to check its price before buying the 3900x. I suppose we’ll find out tomorrow if it’s released with the new Thread Ripper.
I'm in the same boat. I have spent the last year getting together all the parts for my new build and intended on getting the 3950x back in September when it was originally going to be released. There is a list floating around that shows what AMD plans to talk about tomorrow, but no mention of the 3950x. Hopefully they mention something about it tomorrow though .
Please keep me updated, I'll stay on it if I discover anything. If it doesn't come out, I'll just purchase the 3900 model. The main reason I waited was for more cores and threads at a reasonable price—probably they're already developing CPUs for next year. I won't wait too long, because whatever I can upgrade to will be better than what I have now.
Sounds good. Ill post if i find anything else. I plan on doing the same. My current pc is still using the FX-9590, which AMD is currently getting some flak for marketing as an 8 core cpu when its really just a 4 core. I really wanted the 3950x, but if it turns out they pushed it back again i don't think i'm going to wait any longer. My new PC is basically done, just missing the new CPU.
The TDP calculation uses the standard clocks, not boost settings. The boost is single-core only, and based on my 3800X achieving a solid 4450mhz boost along with some test power configurations: https://www.techpowerup.com/review/1usmu...rocessors/, it makes sense to anticipate the 3950X, using two chips switching between them, could reach around 4700mhz for single-core boost.
