I'm going to assume a power supply will need to be replaced. What case do you currently have? One this old *could* still be useful, though the front USB ports may be problematic. What do you utilize this computer for? If you're not gaming and don't require a high-end GPU, you can stay well below this budget.

I created this because there are many posts nowadays seeking upgrade advice both here and on the CPU forums, and I feel... forums. Post in the Systems forum, and people will come by to suggest a parts list. £1500 is indeed an entirely new computer.
The power supply was replaced around 2 years ago. But it's a standard box, nothing remarkable.
I use it for Adobe Illustrator, Office tasks, some podcasting and YouTube. No intense gaming, etc.
I must be honest, I'm not certain you require any upgrade for this. What are you incapable of doing now that you would be able to accomplish with an upgrade? If performance is more sluggish than it previously was, you might simply be due for a wipe-and-reinstall of the operating system drive.
The only hardware I upgrade incrementally is video cards, although I've upgraded a processor once. If I feel the need to upgrade my processor, I just assemble a new system. Why?
A video card alone tends to be in higher demand, especially if it was a premium one. However, I find it much simpler to sell an entire computer system than to attempt selling individual components from the old computer. The processor upgrade I performed had a cascading impact: It was a Ryzen 7 3800X to a Ryzen 5 5600X (for my purposes, yes this was deemed an upgrade), but I still had my previous build which had a Ryzen 2700X. So I upgraded that build and then sold the 2700X on eBay.
Aside from that, I usually keep old storage drives and convert them into external drives.
You are correct, actually. It's just the operating system upgrade I desire and the capability to add 1 or 2 more monitors. Since Microsoft extended support for Windows 10 until 2025 or even 2030, I don't require the upgrade. And concerning the additional monitor capability, I can simply update the graphics card.
This means I will most likely wait another 2 years before I replace my computer.
