It’s best to avoid manual adjustments under or over voltage at the moment. This task is more complex than it seems, so addressing your configuration issue should come first—likely needing a BIOS and chipset driver update.
B450 A PRO MAX is the main driver, yes. The chipset refers to the motherboard drivers. You should get the BIOS upgrade from the same source listed in the MSI support page. For installing the BIOS update, you can usually do it directly on the computer, but some instructions suggest waiting until the system boots into BIOS. Don’t remove the battery before proceeding—follow the steps carefully to avoid issues.
Start by resetting the CMOS first—check if that resolves the issue (make sure the PC is fully powered off during this step). Next, update the chipset, followed by the BIOS (the sequence isn't critical). The chipset will be installed under Windows just like any other program. The BIOS is actually installed from the BIOS itself using a USB thumb drive. Both files come from the board manufacturer, so confirm they match your motherboard model.
Thank you very much, I'll probably follow up in a few hours. Appreciate it!
Sure thing! It seems to be a bit elevated, but nothing serious. You might want to close all the apps and programs, like Chrome, which should bring it down further. Either way, it looks much improved compared to before!
It's curious when I start a game, like R6S. The CPU voltage and clock speed come down to around 1.4V and 4.2GHz. Maybe I should consider enabling eco mode from Ryzen Master, as I can't locate the balanced power plan in the power settings section. I'd like to see how it affects performance then.
Lol why tho? If you wanted a CPU with lower frequency you could have bought a much cheaper one, it works as intended now, that's auto boost. If you lower clocks you'll probably also run into performance issues. So yeah while that may be interesting it's also not because it just does what it's designed to do. I mean I understand if you want low states during idling but during load? There's simply no reason lol. Like I said then a much cheaper CPU would do the same. BTW Ryzen Poweplan is obsolete in latest windows version, it doesn't give any improvements as far I know, you can try it but performance will likely be worse.
