It refers to the way a particular drive is set up for booting from MSI software. I've encountered this on various boards like ASUS, Gigabyte, and MSI in the past to get things functioning. It's not something I'm familiar with outside of iCUE for RGB tweaks on my K70, so I'm unsure how to approach it. If you have the installation file, a fresh install might help, but if the product is no longer supported, there could be compatibility issues.

It seems this board was missing when the latest Corsair Link version came out, so I'm planning to reinstall it. A similar issue shows up with hwinfo64—both appear to be on a "7 core CPU" and part of the system isn't functioning properly. I'll try reinstalling that too. Uh, I wasn't expecting this to go wrong, but it's definitely a hassle. Setting everything up again will be necessary now. Afterburner also lost my ideal undervolt settings, which is expected after hardware changes, though it shouldn't happen since my GPU hasn't changed.

These were my ideas too. By the way, even if the system updates publicly, I’d still release a new version. There are often many stability patches, security fixes, and general enhancements.

Upgrade Windows 11 to the newest release. Install the appropriate drivers right away. Visit your device's support page, then download the necessary files. Obtain the chipset driver for the B550 chipset. Ensure your graphics card also runs the most recent drivers.

done all that... again, the weird thing is this already started on my old board, when i installed the Samsung nvme... i don't get it either but that's what happened , so i don't think there's an issue with this new board in particular. i still need to install the wifi driver, but i don't want/use wifi so it seem unnecessary? there are also 3 BT drivers, 1 AMD and 1 INTEL and 1 MSI... seems messy! I installed the INTEL 1, apparently this board has an INTEL BT chip... well i got the 1 from MSI, i don't think it matrers? its the same AMD installer as its always been. I did get the search functionality back btw, turns out i had to activate windows (maybe, not sure, but its working! ) I honestly like your humor, but in all seriousness why should I do that? This is a windows 10 machine and it'll always be. I tried 11... too round, options missings (right click menu) etc, not my thing at all! Also they seriously removed this? https://imgur.io/a/sF5hUpF Blasphemy, i can't handle that at all, omg, not the tiles! win 10 4 lyfe ~ Anyways, if all fails i need to return the board i guess? But then again something might be dodgy with this Samsung 980 Nvme, i mean that's where the weird issues started happening...

It's also possible this might be the reason. Fixing problems can really be frustrating. I've been working in computer repair for more than ten years, and custom setups have challenged me more often than I realize.

I believe the strange "msdwload" folder Windows places on a storage drive is what’s causing trouble. I attempted to remove it once, but it reappeared after I restored it, even though I made a backup earlier. The main point against this idea is that I’ve cloned drives many times before and never experienced such issues—only with SATA drives, not NVMe. I’m not an expert, but my experience suggests fixing or replacing hard drives, cleaning malware, etc., would be simpler than a full Windows reinstall. Alternatively, I could revert to a previous backup, which usually resolved most problems in the past. I think Macrium might handle hardware changes effectively.
