I recently assembled the pc and it has been producing a humming or hovering noise, almost resembling the opressor mk2 from gta online. I’ve seen other discussions about a comparable problem, but mine is different because I don’t have an hdd, and the sound disappears when the system loads, meaning it only occurs during idle. Any ideas on what might be causing this?

Are you certain the issue resolves instead of being hidden by other sounds (for example, faster case fans increasing overall noise)?

I'm not entirely confident, but during startup I don't hear that noise even when near the PC. I don't think it's my GPU fans since they begin spinning at a certain temperature, so they're still running when idle. This sound also disappears even when I only stress the CPU. Do you have any suggestions on what to do?

Take a look inside the side panel of your PC case and place your ear there, to pinpoint the exact source of the noise. This helps narrow down the possible causes. Additionally, briefly halting the case fans can help eliminate fan noise or bearing sounds.

I placed my ear close to each ventilator and mostly heard the fan noise. It seems like the sound is coming from below or somewhere else. I’m thinking the PSU might be the issue, even though the smart fan mode is active and shouldn’t make such noise.

The PSU's make and model (or part number) are provided. Its age is also mentioned, along with whether it was purchased new or used/refurbished. If it's from the manufacturer, PSU coil whine may be present.

Among the few PSUs featuring an ARGB fan, only a handful are genuinely high-quality. Most units with RGB fans tend to be of lower standard. Still, overall build quality doesn't guarantee a coil whine-free experience—often it depends on the specific model. For instance, Seasonic X-series PSUs were sometimes reported to have coil whine, even though they were built with good components.

Current fixes offer two main solutions:
#1 Boost ambient white noise so the PSU's coil whine blends into it.
#2 Purchase a PSU less likely to produce coil whine, which may involve changing the model or brand.

For example, I own a Seasonic PRIME TX-650 in both Skylake and Haswell builds. To my knowledge, these units are among the quietest I've encountered—no coil whine detected.

I understand, but isn't coil whine more like a sizzling or a whining noise? It sounds similar to what my PC makes, though it's quieter. Listen to this video: https://youtu.be/t_ZqLh_cpL4?si=dBthIXGKH4wyRfBp&t=27
I don’t have time to replace the PSU, so I considered a workaround. Just listening to music would help.

Coil whine noise varies with different loads. This video provides a clear example of GPU coil whine at the 1-minute mark and again at 3:25; view it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T7HsXHqtxrI
