New CPU/Mobo/RAM Gaming Compatibility Tips
New CPU/Mobo/RAM Gaming Compatibility Tips
I'm planning to refresh my CPU/Mobo/RAM to catch current deals and ensure compatibility with Windows 11, as support for Windows 10 is coming to an end. My main focus is gaming, but I’m not seeking a major performance increase—just some future-proofing and extra space for a better graphics card when sales are good or my existing card becomes insufficient. When comparing the 14900K, 9950X, and 14900K, the latter seems to offer a better balance of price and performance. Did I overlook anything? Are there any sales I should have noticed? The specifications indicate the cooler fits the case, but PCPartPicker suggests you might need an adapter; is this accurate? If yes, where can I find one or would it be wiser to purchase a new cooler instead? (My old cooler still maintains temperatures around 40°C.)
Thanks a lot for your time and assistance!

If you're seeking long-term support for AM5, it's the better choice as it remains compatible until around 2027. LGA 1700 is already out of production. The 7800X3D configuration suggested by why_me should provide you with sufficient time, after which you could upgrade for enhanced performance if necessary.
