You have options like the RTX 4070 Super (750W power supply), RTX 4070 Ti Super (850W power supply), or the RX 7900 XT (850W power supply). Honestly, it’s a bad time to buy any of those cards now. Nvidia and AMD have stopped making them to focus on new models, and the prices and stock are poor. If you wait three weeks, it might be one of the smartest choices you make. A better graphics card at a lower cost.

Purchase everything and utilize the built-in graphics that come with that CPU at this time until he acquires that card. This allows him to immediately use his new PC. Additionally, search for pre-order offers on that card within the upcoming week or so.

I would wait 20 days, assemble the PC and activate it with the built-in graphics. Then again, the new GPUs sell out quickly, so I might have to take a break and wait 9 hours in line.

I wouldn't invest in a new rig within this price range featuring a 6-core processor by 2025. If you prefer not to pay the additional cost for an OS immediately, consider running it without a license and acquiring one later.

I completely disagree with spending over 300 dollars on an 8 core CPU when 6 core models offer comparable performance at a fraction of the cost. This decision is mostly about personal preference. I prefer a 14600k for 220 dollars, as it matches the performance of the 9700X in games and most people don’t upgrade for more than four years or a different socket.

I prefer a 14600k for 220 dollars, as it matches the performance of the 9700X in games and most people don’t upgrade for more than four years or a different socket.

I mainly pick AM5 for upgrades. Otherwise, I’d go with a 12700k. I just don’t believe Intel’s solution actually worked. That’s why my 12700k never reached a 14700k as I intended. Core Ultra isn’t great for gamers.

In my mind, I can trust a 5 year warranty. The upgrade path is certainly there if you see yourself swapping CPUs in 1-3 years, but beyond that its not really worth it in my opinion. I have only ever upgraded my CPU in a socket once in my life 3900x => 5800X3d, and I likely wont get a new platform until the penultimate AM5 X3D CPU comes out, or until X3D comes out on AM6. Or maybe Intel will produce a gaming chip that can compete!
