new 1000 euro budget build
new 1000 euro budget build
Hey, it has been a while since I've built my own PC and a friend recently asked me to put one together for about 1000 to 1200 euros. I looked at this list here: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Wc8brM which costs around that amount in the Netherlands. I don't know where I can cut things without losing too much performance. Is this build good and do all parts work well together? Are there other options I should consider? He wants to play games like Baldur's Gate 3 and doesn't play many shooters. He needs something for the next 8 to 10 years, keeping upgrades in mind.
If you look at the top right hand corner, you'll see a drop down menu for your location, I've changed the location from United States to Netherlands; https://nl.pcpartpicker.com/list/Wc8brM I took the liberty to tweak some parameters; PCPartPicker Part List CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 7600 3.8 GHz 6-Core Processor (€199.00 @ Alternate) Motherboard: Gigabyte B650 EAGLE AX ATX AM5 Motherboard (€157.00 @ Amazon Netherlands) Memory: Crucial Pro Overclocking 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6000 CL36 Memory (€91.99 @ Amazon Netherlands) Storage: Crucial P3 Plus 500 GB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive (€39.90 @ Amazon Netherlands) Storage: Crucial P3 Plus 2 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive (€124.90 @ Alternate) Video Card: ASRock Challenger OC Radeon RX 7700 XT 12 GB Video Card (€435.00 @ Azerty) Case: Fractal Design Meshify 2 Compact Lite ATX Mid Tower Case (€80.84 @ Amazon Netherlands) Power Supply: MSI MAG A750GL PCIE5 750 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply (€101.99 @ Paradigit) Total: €1230.62 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2025-04-16 14:57 CEST+0200 assuming this build is primarily for gaming, I've added a smaller capacity SSD for the OS, app's and launchers. The larger drive is for your game library. You don't need a 850W unit but I decided against the 650W version to allow you access to a 12v-2x6 harness should you decide to swap the GPU out for something more powerful like an RTX5070Ti. Changed case for something that has a tempered glass ide panel but is within Fractal Design's portfolio. I would've swapped it out for the Lian-Li Lancool 207 instead. The processor comes with a stock cooler, so you can save up later down the road and invest in an aftermarket cooler. If you add this; https://www.infoteq.nl/products/usb...bc...a8FatXEFrx to the list, you grant USB type-C connectivity on the Fractal Design case. I created this because there's a lot of posts nowadays asking for upgrade advice both on here and on the CPU forums, and I feel... forums. to help give us some context to the purpose of the build and any limitations that we might have to account for.
The build looks okay and should work fine. You'll get some suggestions, but most of them are just personal tastes. Me? I'd go for one of the Thermalright Peerless Assassin Twin Tower coolers instead. Stick with your 850W PSU because it's going to run cooler and quieter while staying in that sweet spot where things are efficient. Cases are a matter of opinion; Fractal is actually pretty good, especially since it's one of the few modern cases that still has DVD slots. Ask a friend for their take on that too. On the clock life part? Eight or ten years? That changes depending on what tech comes out and what your friend wants. I think they'll probably need to swap things sooner than that anyway.
