Urgent! Your new PC is overheating severely right after startup, even without any use. The temperature hit 100°C instantly, and you shut it down immediately. You built it with an i5 13600K CPU cooled by a Lian Li 240m 3060TI cooler. What should you do?

Yes, you might need to reapply thermal paste if the application was incomplete or if the components have shifted.

Verify the temperature via the bios if needed. Some devices often display wrong readings, while the bios remains reliable. If the bios shows 100°C, turn it off unless testing is required.

Thermal paste application should not be repeated. Water coolers use an aio pump with its own separate cable, connecting to the AIO PUMP header on your motherboard. Note: Water coolers typically require at least two cables—one for fans and another for the AIO pump. Ensure fan cables go into the CPU FAN header and the AIO cable into the AIO header near the CPU FAN header.

Perhaps. Take off the cooler to make sure the paste is spreading well and making good contact. An easy way to see if the pump is working is to feel it and listen. If it makes weird noises, it may be defective. If you can't feel fluid flowing in the tubes: it may be defective.

This information appears in the bios. They indicate whether the AIO pump is being detected and functioning properly. Avoid reapplying thermal paste—it's completely unnecessary.

Sure, that was the bios, and it really struck after a minute or so.
