I made a mistake by purchasing a ready-made gaming setup two years ago (no worries, I didn’t know better). I have an i7-7700 and intend to replace it. My plan is to upgrade the RAM and motherboard. I’m unsure whether to get a new 10th-gen i7 or stick with a 9th-gen i9/i7. Since this rig is for gaming and not for science projects, I prefer Intel components. The GPU was upgraded to the 2070 Super recently, and the power supply is now 650W. Let me know if that helps!

Purchase the Ryzen now. A $120 processor beats the $300 i7.

The core i7 10700k is essentially similar to the i9 9900K but at a lower price, though it's hard to locate them now at their MSRP. The 10th generation offers a potential upgrade route, possibly allowing you to modify your Intel platform without swapping the motherboard.

The latest 10th generation chips are powerful, yet the earlier models lag behind Ryzen's performance, and the cooling requirements are extremely high. You'll likely need top-tier fans to keep them running smoothly.

They lag behind Ryzen in productivity, but Intel remains dominant in gaming performance. You’ll understand the strain is easy to handle on the 10th generation if you checked out videos such as the Buildzoids tutorial on boosting the 10900K.
