I’m familiar with Linux already. I’ve used Linux Mint on a USB for some time but lost it. Now I have an old Samsung 850 256GB SSD and plan to install Linux. I’ll be browsing, writing documents, gaming, so which distro suits best? I prefer something user-friendly with strong game compatibility—especially for the distros you mentioned: Mint Ubuntu, Pop!_OS, Manjaro, CPU R5, 2600x GPU GTX 1070 Ti, 16GB RAM at 2400MHz. I’m open to your recommendations and appreciate your help ahead of time.

Debian-based systems are ideal for gaming, though the Nvidia driver performs poorly and won’t match Windows speeds on a 1070ti.

My 2060S tends to work better with Linux than Windows. Most tests also give comparable outcomes, except for a few problematic ports like Civ VI, where the graphics card isn't much of an issue.

The Debian-based distributions include Ubuntu, Linux Mint, and Manjaro. Let me know if you want more details!

It's true, the last time I ran a Nvidia GPU on Linux was with the 1070 chip. Maybe things have gotten better since then.

Mint, Ubuntu or POP would be the top choices. The main difference among them lies in the appearance and experience, so pick the one that suits you best.

The development of Ubuntu Kylin and POP remains ongoing, even though they are not part of SteamOS.

What do you think of Manjaro? I’m not very familiar with it, but having the choice to install it pre-installed would be a plus, especially if Lenovo offers that option. Thanks!
