I own a Ryzen 1500X with an OC of 4.0GHz and a GTX 1080. For GTA V I’ve pushed everything to its limit except grass (very high), advanced settings are disabled except frame scaling at 1.75x since my monitor is 1920x1080, and I’m getting around 50-70 FPS. Is that acceptable?

GTA5 is giving me a very low frame rate, starting around 10 frames per second and going up to about 200 fps in certain scenes. Just a note that your CPU is limiting the performance of your graphics card. You won’t be able to reach the full potential of the card if it’s not powerful enough. Make sure VSync is disabled both in the settings panel and within the game. If you keep facing issues, try uninstalling the display driver using DDU in safe mode and then restart your system. Once back in normal mode, install the latest nVidia WHQL drivers from their website for your operating system. Please let us know how GTA5 performs after these changes.

What is the RAM speed and setup you're using?
Just let me know if it aligns with your performance targets.

It's strange how I perform around 200fps at 1440p with all nvpanel enabled, maximum settings applied, and every AA method active while game settings are at their highest. It feels like something is off or my CPU might be more sensitive in GTA5, which seems to rely heavily on processing power. I guess a 2600 or 2700 AMD chip would make a big difference.

The difference in single-threaded performance between first and second generation Ryzen isn't huge, and adding more cores doesn't really make a big impact. Haswell CPUs can handle demanding tasks like GTA well, and Ryzen should be capable too. The issue seems to lie with the RAM.

It is a outstanding card.  A amazing card.  Your really holding it back with the rest of your hardware.   Also fact GTA5 loves CPU speed.  It is a CPU bound game.

A low-cost 1080 remains a 1080, but a faulty one is a different matter. If you think something is wrong, have you looked into the performance of your graphics card? And what about the RAM?

However, a new CPU is costly and swapping it would be difficult since I already have this large Noctua cooler.
