If the GPU drivers are the problem, AMD suggests performing a factory reset. This can be done through the adrenaline software's settings menu, which will clear all configurations and previous drivers.

Internal lag typically isn't a software problem, but more often a hardware issue with many factors to consider. Have you done any overclocking recently?

Lag is now commonly used to describe any problems with games. Besides GPU drivers, it might also result from a Windows update or an unexpected background process. Issues can appear without clear reasons.

I’m using the simple elimination factor and assuming the OS should run. I’ll start on the GPU, then move to peripherals. The OS is just how I work, not that you’re wrong. One thing at a time must be removed to identify the issue, and then we can determine the solution.
