It won't make much difference, and a decent air cooler performs just as well as an AIO. The OP isn't planning to overclock, so they have a choice: stick with the built-in cooler (a bit warmer and louder) or upgrade to a $40 air cooler for better cooling without extra noise. For the cost of an AIO, you can upgrade to a 3700x model.

It will occupy one of four positions. Consider checking Noctua U12s or Arctic Freezer 34 Duo instead, or opt for the stock cooler if you're not pushing overclocking.

Microcenter offers a 3600x variant for an additional unit. I’m just hoping to get it over 3600 if you’re nearby. It provides a 200 MHz boost along with a higher base clock. Whether the 3600 setting increases performance is uncertain. Results might differ, so I’ll try it out. I’ll test it on a dark rock pro first. Just keep in mind it can be tricky to install. The setup process is straightforward in theory, but starting both screws on the heatsink can be challenging. It’s enough to do a dry run without paste on my old CPU if you’re okay with it.

My bench mark was at 3600 and my CPU was stuck at 4200mhz. That kind of speed is kept secret.

I often notice this, but I've tested myself and the results don't match. Around 10% at stock seems right, and the X should rise at a lower voltage, making it easier to categorize. It would change if it were $50 more, but it isn't.
