It's a self-published release, correct. Indie doesn't imply bad performance. Early access could be the case, even though it's been around for a year and a half and is quite well-received. I haven't encountered major, broad optimization problems.

Indies usually results in lower spending on those items, as it has happened many times before.

Optimization challenges usually stem from project execution rather than available funds. In fact, the triple-A market has built a reputation for poor platform-specific tuning over recent years, making strong optimization a desirable feature. More often than not, it's large budgets that bring these issues to light. Early Access introduces its own set of difficulties, especially with games that haven't reached completion.

Considering the connections between CD Projekt, CD Projekt Red, GoG.com, and the various game developers they've supported, it's clear they operate on a much larger scale than commonly perceived. Their workforce exceeds 200-300 people, indicating a significant presence in the industry. While they're not traditional indie studios, their self-publishing model sets them apart from larger companies. In this context, Blizzard could also be considered indie, depending on the perspective.

That's the exact meaning of indie. "Self-published" is correct—Blizzard qualifies as indie. You're referring to smaller independent developers who lack the funds for thorough quality checks and bug fixes. The indie label comes from having a small team size, not from financial constraints.

Indie status doesn’t define success—EA, Activision, Blizzard and Ubisoft also operate as independent developers. Each brings unique creativity and control to their projects.

The game was made by CDProjekt RED, published by CDProjekt as a distinct company. It reached North America through Warner Brothers, which is quite interesting. Namco-Bandai handled the release in other regions.
