Try what you have. Again, it can still work just fine, it's just not guaranteed to work. The same risks exist if you're buying the same exact model number you already own as RAM manufacturers will change the ICs depending on what they have on hand that day, so unless you're buying the kits at the same time it will likely be a different IC. If it works, just run it. If it doesn't, return the kit, sell what you have, and get a 2x16GB kit instead.

Open BIOS, adjust RAM speed to 3000, turn off XMP, choose auto. Manually configure primary timings such as 16-18-18-18-38. Adjust DRAM voltage to 1.35V. Verify timings via the BIOS SPD or CPU-Z in Windows.

I didn’t expect to be able to switch to another clock. I found identical parts on eBay and purchased them, but I messed up by selecting the incorrect ones—older models are better than C16 models.

the ram i haven’t installed is version 5.30 and at 15-17-17-35 the c16 sticks perform better because they handle speeds of 16, 20, and 20 but are a version 3.31 which is confusing me.

The new RAM performs better, with lower numbers being preferable. The improvement won't be obvious. Follow what the doctor recommended, and everything should be okay.
