Need assistance! I purchased a MIS Match RAM module.
Hi, I'm concerned about having the wrong stick installed. I have an ASRock B450M Pro 4 CORSAIR VENGANCE LPX 3000 MhZ CMK8GBX4M1D3000C16 x2 of 8gb in my system. (I also have CMK16GX4M2B3000C15 x2 of 8gb, and just got this one). Will I encounter any problems? I didn’t read the model name carefully. Please let me know.
You're likely fine, though I've experienced mismatched RAM a few times. Occasionally there are problems, but overall I think everything should work out.
I'm not sure, but the C15 sticks are a popular choice for their balance of performance and affordability. What do you think?
Perhaps? The best way is to check. For example, the key factor in memory compatibility is the IC on the sticks. Various ICs need different training levels, and they’ll only match if their needs align. At speeds around 3000, there’s a good chance they overlap, though it’s not certain. The safest bet is to test it. Honestly, the same issues apply when buying identical models, so you’re not making a huge mistake. On the sticker, you’ll see a version number—if it matches, it should work, but mismatched doesn’t always mean it won’t.
You won't get a dual channel setup after purchasing a new stick to pair with your existing one, since the count difference raises concerns. It might be possible if you're covering the cost, but it's essentially a gamble. If you're paying, it's like flipping a coin—better to return it and save time and money. For more RAM, consider buying a kit; used DDR4 options are very affordable.
