Need assistance comparing RAM speed and capacity.
Need assistance comparing RAM speed and capacity.
Insert the 16GB 2666Mhz CL19 stick into the Intel system. The AMD model uses a dual channel configuration instead.
I’m looking for a smoother experience. For capacity, I don’t like tabs reloading or the delays—the AMD PC1 doesn’t refresh often, but it still does a bit, especially when I open many tabs. I’ve got a habit of using lots of tabs, but it happens rarely. I’m just curious which option will work best for me.
If you're not playing games and just using a web browser, you won't notice the 16GB limit unless you're running low. You can safely lower the clock speed too, which won't cause any issues. Having more than 16GB RAM isn't necessary, so you're free to adjust based on your needs. If you're unsure, try setting 24GB in the 3800x rig and 26GB in the 9700x rig, running them at different speeds to ensure smooth browsing.
They will be dual channel options. One choice is 8+16 at 2666 cl20 or 8 + 16 at 2666 cl19. I only have one 1X16G 2666cl19 and will install that. Alternatively, I can keep 8+8 at 3200 cl20 as is and build the other with the second option. Likely it depends on 24g 2666 at cl19 versus 3200 16g at cl20. By the way, I usually take apart my gaming rig a few months before and plan to replace it once components arrive. Which would you prefer? @Mark_Laidlaw @Action_Johnson @Moonzy
3800x: 2x8 3200 cl20 9700 : 8+16 2666 It doesn't really matter anyways, as long as you have 16gb it's sufficient for browsing the web
