Use PBO to raise PPT and EDC limits for better overclocking. Ensure proper cooling; otherwise, the CPU won't exceed its boost potential even with higher power caps. The default settings cap PBO before temperatures rise, so you should notice a higher clock speed. The CPU automatically tracks temperatures and triggers a high-temperature alert at 70°C. At standard fan speeds, the CPU runs at full capacity (100%). During testing, apply full load, light load, and moderate gaming loads to see how boosts vary with thermal conditions. I found the PBO section in version 1.6, but no curve optimizer listed. Also, how do I confirm I'm using PBO v2 since the BIOS doesn't differentiate versions?
I’m not near my computer, but I’ll be there tonight. I’m using almost the same motherboard. I plan to check settings tomorrow to locate it and see what needs enabling. It seems this should point you in the right direction.
It's found! To make the curve optimizer visible, switch PBO from 'enabled' to 'Advanced'.
Uncertain about it, but it’s possible someone will mention PBO 2 during setup. It could also appear elsewhere or in the specifications of the motherboard you purchased.
I spent most of my afternoon testing benchmarks and pushing PBO's boundaries. I found that setting the PBO Limit to Auto with Curve Optimizer at -25 worked well, raising all cores up to 67°C while keeping fans under 100% and reducing noise. Disabling the limit improved temperatures but hurt boost performance. Adjusting the CPU clock override between 50mhz and 200mhz didn’t yield a stable solution below 70°C. I considered tweaking fan curves or applying clock boosts, but couldn’t maintain temps without overheating. The optimal curve optimizer came out around 25.
