You can change between different Freelancer configurations easily. Yes, you can switch from DUR to MAX and back without losing the upgrades. You won’t need to repeatedly purchase ship configs once you’ve applied the desired upgrade.

The MAX upgrade isn't available for purchase because it's a limited edition model. I might be considering another version instead. If you manage to get the necessary upgrades and store them in your hanger, you can retain them. Otherwise, transporting them risks losing them or theft. The situation could shift at any time based on their decisions.

You can freely change between DUR and MAX upgrades any number of times. Each configuration is independent, so switching won’t erase the previous one. The DUR upgrade costs $15 and the MAX upgrade costs $30, both currently available for purchase.

It might be because they show up on the main page as a fresh entry. I noticed them there instead of in a forum, which I don’t usually visit.

Your thoughts on the MIS and the missile boat show a limited perspective. For your upgrade suggestion, I believe it’s a waste of time and resources. Just purchase one (stock is a solid starting point), then acquire the necessary parts once the game ends. When you need to change, buy one Freelancer or two to save time and money—similar to a dollar-shave approach. Items will be purchasable within the game using in-game currency, not real money at launch. Regarding your original concern, the Connie could be a bit of a hurdle for one player. You can only use the turrets from the front, you can’t use the Merlin, and whatever the other two seats allow won’t work either. But remember, you can hire NPCs—but the better the NPCs, the higher the cost.

It's a single opportunity. Once you apply the upgrade, it stays in place forever.

It seems you haven't fully understood my message. You mentioned you can only swap weapons at the moment, while other changes are not useful right now. The variations act as examples for customizing your ship, and the upgrade options are like packages that come with your ship. Currently, you're swapping parts instead of purchasing additional ones, which is what you can do now. However, things will change once the release comes, as I mentioned earlier.

I reviewed your message and appreciated the guidance. You mentioned understanding that ship upgrades are a one-time offer. I purchased the Freelancer Plus stock package for the USB space-ship and the galaxy map poster—definitely a nerd move!

I'm a freelancer with the standard version and a DUR upgrade, currently without friends. Managing several roles becomes tough, especially with a ship packed with manned guns and turrets. If you own the Aurora (the cargo vessel), you can handle it alone. For ships like the Cutlass, Freelancer, and Constellation, it's hard to enjoy flying them without someone else. The Constellation needs at least four people. Consider joining an organization to connect with others. While everyone has their own ship, most tend to team up and switch between them regularly.
