MSI B450 A-PRO fails to power on due to a Ryzen 3600 processor issue
Hello, I'm working on setting up a new system using an MSI B450 A-PRO board, a Ryzen 5 3600 processor, a 600W power supply, and some new RAM. I'm repurposing a GTX 970 from another machine. I've repeated the BIOS flashing process to ensure compatibility with the CPU, but the system still won't boot. I've cleared the CMOS, tested the PSU with a power supply trick, swapped USB drives and BIOS versions, and tried installing RAM one stick at a time in different slots—nothing worked. During startup, I only see spinning fans on both the CPU and GPU, but the EZ-debug light stays on the CPU, suggesting an error there. Please, anyone have suggestions or solutions? I've shared this on several forums so far. Removing the RAM completely clears the EZ debug light and switches to DRAM mode, which makes me think the RAM might be the issue. The part number for the RAM is CMK16GX4M2B3200C16.
Reach out to AMD regarding a boot kit for BIOS updates to enable 3rd generation Ryzen compatibility.
I saved the BIOS file from MSI to ensure compatibility, but is that sufficient?
Sure thing! You just need the 8-pin and 4-pin power connectors plus a USB drive to update the BIOS for the B450 A-PRO.

It might be my mistake for not mentioning it earlier, but it’s always nice to have supportive people around during tough times, especially when they treat you with respect.
Most systems lack a BIOS flashback capability. Without any debugging beyond basic checks, you can confirm updates by comparing BIOS versions or using a bootable recovery tool. A boot kit or an older CPU remains a solid option.
I might attempt to ask for the boot kit even though I've heard they're not very willing if you possess flashback ability with your board, although I'm not sure. The biggest annoyance here is that all my interactions with the PC happen via blinking lights. I've built four systems so far and this is the first time I've faced issues that didn't work after everything I thought about. It seems like part of the process.
Using 32GB of fat on a 16GB or smaller USB drive, rename it? Continue waiting while the LED persists? No operating system or memory installed?
