I just received a T430s but my request for the Wi-Fi password was denied because the stepdad lost the stickynote and doesn’t want to reset it. I’m wondering if I can configure the Wi-Fi manually—like positioning the device near the router or using button inputs on the router—to identify the network and set up the password myself.

Restart it and finish it. Small issue.

I thought the same thing—just give them a call and request it, but it doesn’t seem worth the time or effort compared to simply resetting it.

It seems like you're excited about a potential story idea! What do you think?

You can retrieve the password directly from a Windows machine that is already connected. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/wind...f1429cb678

It seems like you're considering a few options for securing your network. If the router has WPS support, it could be another viable choice.

The article discusses the ongoing relevance of a Wi-Fi setup guide, noting it remains useful despite being outdated.

Yeah, for a porn movie. That's why my wifi pw is simple enough for me to remember but hard enough for anyone outside the household to guess. Plus I've whitelisted certain devices and any device that isn't in that list - good luck connecting.
