I own an i7 7700k, GTX 1060 with 6GB of 3000mhz RAM. My Wi-Fi connection isn’t a problem because I don’t experience lag in any game except ModernWarfare. I’ve adjusted the graphics settings to low, set CPU priority to normal, and disabled NVIDIA overlay. Despite these changes, I still encounter a 2-second lag spike every 5–10 minutes. Is this game only designed for 8th/9th generation CPUs? Does it perform best with RX GPUs? Anyone have specs that are significantly better but still cause the same lag issues? This would suggest my hardware isn’t compatible.

Lag isn't a low frame rate or timing issue. Poor timing isn't lag itself. We need more details about your problem to assist you effectively. Lag comes from network delays or input response times. These aren't related to frame rate or timing. Each shows differently, so using specific tools can help identify the cause.

I don't know if you have COD modernwarfare, but by lag, my screen freezes for a couple of seconds and those signals appear like the red rectangles and the red cycling clock. I met someone with the same GPU as me and he says he doesn't experience those lag spikes. My CPU reaches almost 98 percent usage when playing this game, so that could be the cause. Not sure.

I have the essential Windows programs installed. My mouse software, Battle.net, and Process Lasso are active. I turned off Discord and any other unused features.

And do your drivers match the latest versions, including Windows?

I own an i7 6700K with overclocking and an R9 390X also overclocked, along with a copy of MW that experiences odd lag spikes and brief freezes every ten minutes or so. I’m not sure what’s causing it, but I thought it might help to share that you’re not alone. My friend has an i5 8400 and a GTX 1070 Ti and he’s facing the same problems.

Most of my problems disappeared after switching to an SSD. I’m not sure how the game loads levels, but it seems to be progressing gradually.
Please share your full specifications, including where the game is installed.
Edit: I also want to know if the game is still reading and sending data over the network during the campaign.
