Yes, using the ram in the second slot and the fourth slot also worked! Thanks. I started with just the ram in the fourth slot and it posted. Then I turned it off, swapped back in the other one, and it worked again. So much better than expecting a replacement.

Checking the fans, where are you linking them? Is the CPU fan rotating? If it's spinning but still getting hot, it might mean you placed it wrong. A visual tutorial could help with the setup.
