Hello everyone, I understand this tech-savvy crowd, but I’ve got a quick question. I just bought a budget laptop for basic browsing and used Firefox before. It’s running slow on this machine—task manager shows high resource use even with just one tab open (like Google). Are there any lightweight browsers available? I don’t need anything advanced and won’t be adding extra extensions.

Basic specs: Intel Celeron N2840, 8GB DDR3 RAM, 250GB SSD. Thanks. P.S. I’ve already set the power option to maximum performance.

You have ample RAM on that laptop despite its sluggish processor, so consider using Chrome.

Have you tried opera? I’ve just gone back to it after using Chrome, because Chrome isn’t doing well these days.

Chrome uses a lot of CPU power and can quickly drain laptop battery. In your situation, using IE11 is ideal since it’s built for older devices. It’s lighter than other browsers, especially compared to Windows Phone 8.

I expect you're planning to use this device for simple internet tasks, so setting up Ubuntu and Firefox would be a good choice.
