Many users face similar issues, including me. With my RTX 3080, Ryzen 7 5800X, and 16GB of 3200mhz memory, the game only uses about 50% GPU and 40% CPU. It doesn’t make sense since other games launch with full GPU usage. I believe we should wait for a patch.
I’m using a GTX 1080 Strix R5 with 2600x16GB RAM and 3000MHz. While checking Task Manager during gameplay I’m seeing only about 50% CPU usage and 12% GPU utilization. I’ve tried various settings but they don’t seem to help much, so I’m probably holding off on patches for now.
I have a R7 3700x and RTX 3080 that deliver roughly 45-55 FPS in Night City at 3440x1440 ultra settings with DLSS quality. Occasionally, when FPS drops to around 45, GPU utilization falls to 80% while CPU stays between 50-60%. Afterburner shows some CPU cores remain idle, with others handling most work and reaching up to 90% usage at times. This suggests a potential CPU bottleneck, even though my system specs and others’ recommendations are well above it. I’ve reduced DLSS quality and adjusted other settings to high, but performance hasn’t improved, which aligns with CPU constraints.
I'm facing the same issue too, and it's even more severe. My setup runs at 1080p with an R5 3600 and 3070, but it only achieves 60% performance in open spaces. It drops to 45-55fps in crowded areas, and it jumps to 80% when I'm in dense environments like the afterlife. It hits 65fps, which I don't mind since I attribute it mostly to the CPU. I've noticed that 5000-series models help a lot. I even posted about it in a forum thread.
They understand what's going on. I'm using an MSI X Trio. If anyone else is using the same brand, it could be a clue. But I'm pretty sure it's not related.
Cyberpunk 2077 isn't designed for systems with six cores or more threads. It's primarily a graphics-intensive title, and optimization is lacking. Those without DLSS-enabled cards or high-end GPUs (like RX 6800/XT) will struggle. I typically achieve 40-50 frames per second at 1440p with mixed low to medium settings. The GPU operates near full capacity while the CPU runs at its maximum, around 65%. At 1080p with low settings, I can reach about 80-85 fps, but performance drops significantly outside the game. On 1440p at higher settings, I manage around 55-60 fps, and it fluctuates. It's odd that no stable 60 fps settings exist for this resolution, even at low. Compared to newer AAA titles like RDR2 and Metro Exodus, which maintain steady 70 fps at 1440p with mixed settings, Cyberpunk 2077 feels much less smooth. Adjusting settings took me about two hours, yet performance remains poor. I noticed that changing certain options in Cyberpunk 2077 causes blurriness, whereas RDR2 and Metro appear sharper. Reducing Screen Space Reflections from Ultra to medium or low makes reflections look grainy. Applying Nvidia's Game Filters helps, but it shouldn't be this way. It seems patches might be necessary soon.
Even with DLSS you capture more frames than my 3070. Probably a driver problem or something else.
