I also ran Windows 7 too. Let me tell you what is wrong: The fancy UI. UI Redraws suck, (seriously, FUCK that shit) when some window becomes unresposive the UI redraws, the icons in the taskbar get refreshed (or stay blank most of the time) and somethimes the whole PC hangs. Then i'ts battery pulling life. When using classic theme, its usable only then. But then comes the classic Windows 7 crap of programs "Stopping to work" and other bullshit.
I prefer Linux. My posts cover my journey with it, and I’ve used all Windows versions from XP up to the point I didn’t encounter Windows 7, giving me limited exposure.
I don't know much about you, but the particular FTB pack you're using is around 140 MB. It's configured for roughly 4 GB of RAM and functions well.
I spent two years on Linux but switched to Windows for school projects. (LTSpice, PSpice, DipTrace, Photoshop, EAGLE…)
