Hi everyone, I'm experiencing stuttering in Fortnite, COD Warzone, PUBG, and Overwatch 2. The Finals seems fine. Could you suggest ways to improve my system? I've already checked thermal throttling drivers, reinstalled games, updated BIOS, changed RAM, and tried different settings. I'm considering a GPU replacement but not sure if it's the cause. My setup includes a 7800X3D with a 7900XTX, Asus ROG B650E-E motherboard, GSKILL RAM, and an SSD. The fixes I've tried so far are limited to driver updates, BIOS updates, and hardware tweaks. Any advice would be appreciated.
Fortnite runs smoothly but has some stutter issues on my mid-range system. Adjust AMD FreeSync and enable fullscreen mode (not windowed, windowed fullscreen, or borderless). Set unlimited FPS in Fortnite and other games, then use RivaTuner to cap FPS per app. Avoid performance mode in Fortnite; prefer DX12. Performance mode isn’t recommended this season, especially for AMD builds. DX12 works better than performance mode on lower-end PCs like the i5-4790k with GTX 1050.
Observe how these are all online games, highlighting network delays rather than microstutters—something extremely uncommon. People usually mention massive stutters when they talk about it, but I’m just chatting here. Make sure your latency is good. OW the system should run smoothly on a basic machine; Armory Crate, double-check that it’s fully removed and no processes are lingering. Are there any other third-party programs running? Show me the Windows startup screen. Lastly, run a Firestrike benchmark (demo available on Steam) and share the results link so I can verify if there are any hardware concerns, even though it seems unlikely.
It seems Armoury Crate is very difficult to remove, so use Revo Uninstaller. (not a paid post) This tool is free and will clear all registry entries and remaining files from the software. You can get the portable version if you prefer not to install it on your computer.
I often notice this in videos too—high-end setups still get sluggish despite the claims. It’s puzzling how people manage it. I can easily induce noticeable lag, adjust FPS independently of screen refresh, and experience occasional freezes. HDR seems to amplify these issues, or maybe turning on GSSync helps. There’s a lot of lag and crashes now compared to what we had before. Honestly, progress is slow. Just using fast sync in NVCP, disabling VSync in OW, and it works smoothly (20ms latency—seems great for OW).
The crate uses its own removal tool, though it can be a bit clunky—probably needs to be downloaded yourself, huh?
Thanks for the advice. Using the official uninstaller worked well, and the processes vanished. @Mark Kaine, what benchmark should I use? I have a 3D Mark.
Thanks for the advice. I plan to use RTSS. Fortnite on DX12 shows only slight delays. COD Warzone and PUBG have more issues that make it hard to play. I’m not sure what to do... Also, in COD smaller maps or multiplayer seem fine, but Urzikstan is completely unplayable.
