Microstuttering ?
Microstuttering ?
So in roughly October 2022 I had my first microstutter incident. It occurred unexpectedly when I woke up, yet I had been using the PC for about a year, which left me puzzled.
I experimented with various games and adjusted settings, both in-game and through Windows configurations, but nothing resolved the issue.
My hardware consisted of a GTX 1050 Ti, an i5 3550 processor, a Foxconn motherboard (possibly SK Hynix SATA), a 400W PSU, an Intel cooler, and 12GB of RAM.
For around six months I kept searching for solutions and fixes, having seen hundreds of guides, but none worked.
Until March my PC suddenly stopped functioning, so I upgraded to a new system with an RTX 3060, an R5 4500, 16GB RAM, a 650W PSU, an AMD cooler, and a B550 AORUS Elite motherboard.
It booted up and ran smoothly, achieving high frame rates, though microstuttering persisted.
I continued searching, reinstalling drivers, changing BIOS settings, disabling XMP, and adjusting HPE settings, yet the problem remained unresolved.
The new PC also failed because the GPU was defective, so I returned it. I then purchased an RX 6650 XT, an R5 5500, replaced my SK Hynix with a Samsung M.2 NVMe SSD, and upgraded to a 700W PSU.
Still, microstutters occurred.
I attempted nearly every fix available up to May this year, but none succeeded.
I’ve spent two years trying to resolve an issue that seems to have no solution.
My GPU temperatures typically hover around 50°C, while the CPU runs between 60-70°C during gaming sessions.
I’ve documented everything I tried, yet counting the attempts is nearly impossible.
My last hope is to post here and see if anyone else has encountered similar problems.
Is it occurring on the identical screen or have you experimented with different ones? What type of storage are you using? Which games are affected?
I've tested other options and my performance remains at 3200mhz 2x8, still experiencing issues with games.
High frame rates don’t guarantee a smooth gaming experience. It would be useful if you could share some of your troubleshooting attempts so we don’t repeat the same steps. In short, micro stuttering happens when frames appear too soon or too late relative to the monitor’s refresh rate. The typical solution is to limit the frame rate to match the monitor’s refresh rate by a margin of 1-3 fps. Some displays have a refresh rate listed as 165 when it’s actually 164.5. You might also adjust the refresh rate slightly, either increasing or decreasing it, depending on the capped frame rate and the actual refresh rate. Alternatively, you could simply change the refresh rate without enforcing a cap.
I have refreshed my bios to the latest release.
Activated and deactivated xmp.
Turned off hpet.
Disabled audio drivers.
Adjusted freesync settings.
Set vsync accordingly.
Vrr toggled on and off.
Switched power plans to balanced, high, and ultimately none made a difference.
Disabled enhanced pointer precision.
Disabled rgb software.
Adjusted GPU clock speeds.
Adjusted CPU settings and performed multiple modifications
Switched monitors and cables repeatedly
Experimented with HDMI and display port connections
Replaced mouse and keyboard configurations
Disconnected all USB devices except the keyboard and mouse
Turned off Sam
Updated chipset drivers
Used various Windows versions without optimizations
Started in safe mode to check for stuttering
Disabled gamebarpresencewriter and mpo
Modified RAM capacity
Installed additional RAM
Adjusted CPU settings four times
Switched GPU four times
Changed M.2 slots to NVMe
Disconnected front USB 3
I'm also utilizing an outdated extension lead, yet connecting my monitor and power supply to the outlet hasn't caused any changes.
