I've got a similar issue with my system. When both sticks are connected together, memtest fails. But if I use just one stick at a time, it works fine. No obvious problems here, but I'm trying to figure out the cause.

What processor and motherboard are you running? Have you used these RAM modules on any other system?

I attempted each RAM module separately in slots A and B, and everything worked fine.

You might attempt to reposition the CPU and verify that the CPU socket on the motherboard has straight pins after removal. If the motherboard shows no bent pins, the problem likely resides there. It's interesting to know if these RAM modules come from the same set and whether they functioned together before in this system.

You might attempt to reposition the CPU and verify that the CPU socket on the motherboard has straight pins after removal. If the motherboard shows no bent pins, the problem likely resides there. The RAM sticks came from the same set, but they seem to be causing problems. After checking Windows memory tests and running MemTest86, there were errors detected. Ok that's good that they are from the same RAM kit. Are you clearing CMOS every time you swap in/out RAM? The system has to re run memory training which let's the computer learn how to configure the RAM. Inside the CPU, there is something called the IMC. The IMC, abbreviated as the integrated memory controller, this controls the flow of data going into and out of the CPU to the RAM. This handles the memory. There are gold pads underneath the CPU that contact the pins that are in the socket. If they aren't properly making contact, the system won't run correctly. If you're experiencing issues and said that they worked fine before you can't run the system with both RAM sticks installed, clear CMOS. Make sure the RAM sticks are seated inside the slots.

Do you have instructions for taking out the CPU? Also, do you need recommendations for fresh thermal paste? Regarding the CMOS, this is unfamiliar from reviewing the document—it seems to suggest using a screwdriver to touch the pins while the device is off.

If you haven't checked your BIOS settings yet, verify whether DOCP or XMP is active. Try turning them off temporarily and observe what the motherboard reports about the RAM, such as its frequency. Additionally, check the BIOS version of your motherboard to see if it's an updated release (just for reference).

Recommended approaches:
1. Most PC building tutorials are available in reverse order or similar formats.
2. Recent upgrades aren't essential, but older installations benefit from a clean reset and alcohol cleaning for better results. This can slightly boost performance.
3. CMOS acts like a battery; it resets when removed or touched with a tool or metal object while the system is powered down.

I'm familiar with the cooler model located on the CPU. You'll have to replace the thermal paste each time you take it off to avoid trapped air bubbles. By connecting the pins together, you can reset the CMOS.

I can capture an image once I’m back, but I’m not confident about removing the CPU from the motherboard even if it seems simple. Would it be wise to borrow some RAM and test that before proceeding with the CPU cooler removal? Also, after reinstalling Windows and running a memory diagnostic, I noticed a hardware issue.
