It's not a scam, some memory is tuned for Intel and others for AMD. Yes, manual settings should help. It's mostly XMP that can cause problems sometimes. Personally, I think the claims are overstated. My older Ryzen 3600 works just fine with "3600" RAM, even though it's a first-gen model.

ATX is also an Intel standard, but it doesn't prevent AMD motherboards from utilizing it. MSI uses a feature called A-XMP to enable their AMD boards, such as the B450 Tomahawk, to understand XMP information. The problem isn't that the board can't detect the memory profile.

Occasionally, my thoughts connect to the equipment and module quality. They didn't stand out for high-frequency performance, but it's worth noting.

Absolutely! I really nailed it... didn’t even think about it. It got a rating of 3200 and that was the end! Now I own GSKill, it overclocks like a pro on the same rig. By the way, it also doubled the cost compared to the Vengeance lol.

Fortunately, my Vengeance kits perform well with my 5950X and reach the specified speeds. They use SK Hynix chips.

Compare the hardware details with timing requirements. A-XMP and similar settings aim to align with AMD's memory controller, but they often fall short. This is why some RAM configurations suit only specific CPUs. In short, Intel's specifications are optimized for its own memory controller. Err... if you're using a 3rd Gen Ryzen, your Ryzen 7 1700X won't handle memory speeds above 3400 MHz.

My Vengeance handled the rated speed fine; it just didn’t reach higher limits. It was also tuned for Intel, which might have played a role. No, my mistake—I meant the first version, and they released a newer update a year later that’s reportedly improved.

Your processor runs normally without any additional XMP settings applied.

When SOC remains auto when XMP is active, it will reach 1.08v. That means the answer is yes, though the user didn't modify it.
