MacOS Mojave feels similar to MacOS Vista.
It's been several months since I updated to macOS Mojave, and honestly, comparing it to Windows Vista versus XP feels similar to comparing a decent MacBook Pro to a basic Air. My older but functional workstation struggles with even simple tasks now. The situation is confusing—reports vary, and it seems Apple isn't fully addressing the issue. Others are sharing their experiences too, like this thread on Apple Forums.
It seems they're focusing on extending battery life, similar to what iPhones did previously. Jokingly, but Apple might be encouraging you to upgrade their devices. Are we assuming this strategy works or if there are problems with the current software that require a fix?
It's great that you found a usable MacBook Air from 2011. Just make sure it supports the latest macOS version, or you might run into compatibility issues.
I've been utilizing the Dev Preview ever since its release. It has actually boosted my gameplay in titles like SC2 that use metal. It performs exceptionally well on my 2016MBP, while no members of my family with Macs have experienced any performance issues.
Sure, keep in mind that not everyone faces problems—there are still only a few, actually, like the "biggest" minority. I’m already on version 1809 and it functions perfectly for me... Plus, the nice native Dark Theme for explorer.exe makes everything even better. Of course, the OS is more of a personal choice; I also don’t like many things in Windows 10, but at least it lets me tweak it to resemble Windows 7 more closely, which helps with most issues.
