Hello, I'm having a problem with my PC. I have a Ryzen 7 1700 with an RX 5700 XT, 16GB RAM at 2666MHz. It's an AsRock X370M Pro4. Sometimes the CPU and GPU don't perform well, like when I was playing Far Cry 4. Back then, I had around 40% usage and got about 60 FPS on medium 1440p, but I expected closer to 200 FPS. It's happening with other games too, such as CS2 and Fortnite. The 3Dmark stats are available here: https://www.3dmark.com/3dm/104040335?

The statement was made by someone advising that achieving 200fps on a nearly 7-year-old CPU is not feasible.

It seems they didn't go well. The results weren't reliable, and many online tools for PC build calculations are misleading or designed to promote products.

Sure, the 1700 is slowing things down a lot. It's an older Zen processor and isn't very quick. However, you could replace it with a newer CPU—seems capable of handling the 3xxx series, making a Ryzen 3600 a solid upgrade.

The Ryzen 7 1700 is an older model, and using a GPU from 2019 with a CPU from 2017 should work at around 60 FPS for medium games. The 3600 should function normally. Just make sure it doesn’t face the same issues you’re concerned about.

Consider testing various settings: monitor temperatures on GPU and CPU during gameplay, possibly confirming thermal throttling due to a failing cooler. Verify if VSync is active or similar features are enabled. Ensure the display is connected directly to the GPU rather than the port on the motherboard—this might be tricky with Ryzen processors. Investigate whether this issue occurs only in this game or other applications. Assess if adjusting in-game parameters influences performance, such as lowering resolution, and determine if it relates to hardware limitations or software settings. Research benchmark data for your GPU and CPU to see if you can achieve expected performance levels.

Thanks for sharing the 3DMARK score—it really helped confirm your system is working well. I found comparable scores and yours seems to be around 1500 points higher than the typical average for your setup, indicating strong performance given your hardware. FPS depends on many factors like game settings, installed programs, operating system, and security options. If you want to test if you're optimizing performance, try downloading FrameView Setup Fortnite for latency checks. Record some data from Fortnite and upload the CSV file here. Since FrameView has a limited interface, set the recording folder and press the scroll lock key to begin. Just start it while playing for a few minutes; it will save the data in a CSV file. Make sure you're already in the game when you begin.
