I ran a brief check on a 1.7.10 setup I prepared. Achieved 120FPS on a 4790K and a GTX970. I’ll test it on an MC1.8 instance next. (Reminder: official shaders only work up to 1.7.5) EDIT: It seems shaders in 1.8 are actually problematic.

they really stress your CPU with these shaders on my i5 4590 and 280x display. At 1440p I barely reach 45 FPS, but 1080p lets me hit around 60 FPS. The SEUS Shaders Chroma hills 64x64 definitely strain an i5.
