However, increasing RAM won’t significantly boost performance in most titles, as most games don’t utilize more than 16GB of memory. Are you satisfied with the gaming experience you’re receiving? Running Linux inside a virtual machine isn’t particularly resource-heavy. It’s possible you haven’t turned on virtualization in the BIOS—most motherboards disable it by default. I’d recommend checking those settings. Regarding the BSODs, they might be related to the RAM configuration. Are you applying XMP profiles for the slower stick? The 18-20-20-38 timing?
When RAM sticks have varying timings, the CPU automatically adopts the slowest stick and uses its settings for all others. XMP and its AMD equivalent are seen as overclocking and can reduce performance. Turn off overclocking to observe changes in system stability.

I faced a similar challenge about a month ago when Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 was out. The system specs required 24 GB RAM and 32 GB for smooth high settings. I almost gave in and bought a 32 GB DDR4 kit (still have 16 GB left), but I’m glad I didn’t because the game ran perfectly at 90 FPS with high settings.
