It didn’t work well during the past few weeks. How do you feel about OpenEncodeVFW? Would it be a good investment?

I’d just give it a shot and let us see how it goes. You’ll need to download, extract, and run install.bat with admin rights. Once done, open the Dxtory codec settings, switch the encoder to OpenEncodeVFW, and tweak the options as needed. I haven’t used it before since I don’t have a GCN-based GPU, though my APU supports VCE.

It records at the bitrate you choose, though using a higher rate before compression usually works best. GPU processing doesn’t match CPU performance for quality and often creates more artifacts when bitrates drop.

Sure! You should use OpenEncodeVFW or H264 for compression.

OpenEncodeVFW supports speeds up to 50,000Kbps, but your storage must be capable of handling the write speed. After processing with Handbrake(x.264), you compress it to roughly 8000Kbps VBR(2-Pass), matching YouTube's suggestion at https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/1722171?hl=en. For best results, aim for consistent video and file frame rates during capture—capturing at 60FPS is ideal if possible.
