My SSD is completely full, and I’m looking for a new beginning. I want to switch from Windows 10, but I’m not sure if it’s safe or compatible. My old laptop ran Vista, and I really like it, so I’m curious about trying it on my current system. Security and performance of games are important to me—I know it doesn’t support DX12, but that’s okay. Thanks.

Windows Vista isn't supported anymore since April, and it doesn't get any more security updates. To stay safe, you'll need to switch to a newer Windows version if you want protection.

Windows Vista is marked as end-of-support, similar to Windows XP. It lacks security and won’t receive updates from Microsoft. The most supported operating system right now is Windows 7.

Vista's security patches concluded in April this year, meaning it doesn't meet current security standards. Regarding compatibility, it's uncertain. Many applications may stop functioning as Windows 10 becomes dominant.

Vista wasn't ideal for gaming, but you can transform Windows 7 to resemble Vista. Tools like UXThemePatcher help you apply a Vista-style theme to Windows 7.

Everyone has noted that Vista is no longer supported, and based on my experience, there are fewer applications that work with it. Chrome also doesn’t support it. For a current operating system, drivers would simply not exist.
