Both options can vary from powerful GPUs to strong CPUs, or they might be a mix. Shadows of Mordor becomes free-to-play if you steal it.

I acknowledge the point but I'd rather stay outside of what drives businesses toward excessive DRM.

Black light effects aren't high-stakes but still impressive.

Is it really a problem if you're using it to test your system? If you weren't going to buy the game anyway, the developers didn't really lose a sale.

What's the goal here? Do you simply want to hammer your system or do you want to get a game that justifies the purchase. Because if it's the former then you can always just download some free benchmarks like Valley or Heaven, it'll certainly give you a decent idea of what your GPU is capable of. If you want to justify your purchase with an actual game then just drop $30 into your Steam wallet and wait until one of those big AAA 2011-2013 games goes on sale for ~$5 again. In the mean time just enjoy the fact that you can play the games you already had with the sliders all the way to the right

Look for a game you can enjoy while also having an appealing visual style that catches your eye. You've already invested a lot in PC components, so you're cautious about spending more unless you're ready.

Playing Minecraft without any modifications or visual effects can be risky for your device. Trust me, it might not survive long!
