To ensure G-Sync functions properly, Vsync must be activated within the Nvidia Control Panel.

By that time it stopped being G-Sync since you're using VSync, and I don't want any lag issues.

It's about using Nvidia GPUs, specifically mentioning Vsync and Gsync. The advice is personal preference, with no correct or incorrect stance.

It won’t look nice when Vsync or Gsync is disabled. When your graphics card sends more frames than the monitor supports, you’ll see tearing. If you’re okay with some visual artifacts, go for it.

I found this discussion attempting to fix my own issue and decided to post my answer. My frame rate stayed high even with the Nvidia control panel or RTSS. It turned out I was using a borderless windowed setting. Be sure you're in full screen and VSync is off.
