I just tested it. Benchmarks work well, but CPU usage stays low (20-30%). It seems the system might reduce GPU power when CPU load increases. When my GPU reaches full capacity in menus, power use drops to about half. I’m worried that during games, my PSU has to split power among MoBo, GPU, and CPU, which could hurt the GPU’s performance by giving it less than needed. My power consumption stays around 200W when GPU is at 100%, but falls to roughly 100W once I start playing. Could the PSU be handling this? Or can RAM contribute to this behavior?
Your PSU lacks the necessary intelligence for that task; only an ATX 3.0 PSU is designed for such features. If your unit can't support the GPU, it will simply power down without intentionally reducing power. Since you've stress tested it, the issue isn't with the GPU itself. Try a different game—you're running a CPU-heavy title with slow RAM. You might want to understand what RAM actually is.
I'm really embarrassed to admit this after realizing you were right, but switching my RAM from 2100mhz to 3000mhz fixed the issue. Thanks a lot! I'm sorry I questioned you. Although it's not identical yet (my first 16GB runs at 3600mhz and the latest is 3200mhz), I managed to resolve it at 3000 and it addressed most of the problem. Now I'm considering selling my 3600mhz RAM for a 3200mhz one, since these are costly here.
