I understand your situation. You own many NFS games on CDs from the past, using a setup with a wheel and paddles in WinXP. My goal is to build a WinXP system (version 3.0) using the ISO I have, load the games from CDs, and enjoy playing them without internet connection. I’m aware that WinXP isn’t ideal for modern use, but I’m not planning to expose the machine online. This project is enjoyable, and I’d love to know how to make it work on a newer OS like Windows 10, or if there’s a way to install WinXP on this hardware.

You need to adjust certain drivers in the ISO file to enable the SATA controller, and it might or might not include XP Drivers.

You may require a device a few years out of date to ensure complete XP compatibility.

The problem is there won't be any GPU driver available for XP, which means games will perform poorly. Additionally, the SATA controller lacks a driver for XP, preventing installation and making it impossible for XP to run. The Intel Core i 2000 series was the final model to officially support XP.

The M900 runs a 6th Generation Intel Core i7 processor. It seems challenging to get it working. Many people have tried installing older operating systems on modern laptops, but success isn't guaranteed. The drivers are already saved, which helps. If you're stuck, there might be alternative ways to run these games using CDs or other methods.

I’m planning to use an older HP system and think about adding a case to it. I have some hardware from around that era—CPU and RAM—that could work well. My main goal isn’t just about building a tech project, but simply getting those games back to play.

They are either setting it up directly on the hardware or using a virtual machine.

This device might not function properly, indicating it's a genuine unit.

I would set up Windows 7. Before launching the older games, run compatibility mode for WXP before opening the installer. Also, adjust the Games run executable to match WXP requirements. That should get everything working smoothly.

That's either luck or a VM.
