My laptop has been acting up lately, showing noticeable stuttering and occasional video glitches. I resolved it by turning off Intel Turbo Boost with ThrottleStop. I decided to check the system logs using hwinfo. The data shows that when Intel boost is active, my core clock drops sharply—from around 3.6 to just 0.8 MHz for a brief moment—while without boost it stays steady at about 2.7 MHz with no interruptions. The temperatures stayed within normal ranges, maxing out at 62°C. There are no other notable changes in the logs compared to my regular performance. I prefer avoiding third-party tools for this and am still trying to figure out the root cause.

When you notice 0.8 GHz, check Limit Reasons for BD PROCHOT throttling. This issue is frequent. You should use ThrottleStop to turn off BD PROCHOT on the main display. Share many screenshots while your CPU throttles if assistance is needed. Close HWiNFO and enable the ThrottleStop Log File feature to keep a log of your CPU activity. Attach a log file to your upcoming post.

@unclewebb https://pastebin.com/t7v5xxSQ Turbo https://pastebin.com/781SdsY0 No turbo The only thing I get in Limit Reasons is yellow "EDP other" under CORE and RING and its there all the time. EDIT: Noticed that the clock speed drops depend on what I'm doing on.. For example: Playing Diablo 3 - I get no stutter/audio pops with or without turbo. Checked with HWinfo, clock speeds are roughly the same, youtube - clock speed drops to 2.5 - 2.7 and some audio pops. Same with netflix Grim dawn: Clock speed drops to 0.8, stutters a LOT and its super noticable. Heh no idea whats up with that,.

Leave HWiNFO and share ThrottleStop images during throttling. Activate Speed Shift in the TPL window and remove the BD PROCHOT box on the main screen. Lenovo has tried various throttling techniques over time. These issues are generally straightforward to fix.

You clarified that you reached the SS of throttle stop using the approach I recommended.

Consider a screenshot of the FIVR window. Please quote me in your replies, otherwise I might miss them. Turn on the Log File option on the main screen and play a game that previously ran at 0.8 GHz. Are you still experiencing this issue? After completing the tests, exit ThrottleStop so it can finalize the log file and attach your log to the next message you send. The log should be saved in your ThrottleStop / Logs folder. Verify the MMIO Lock box in the TPL window.

Confirming the game should run with those settings active. The logs I shared earlier from pastebin match that, though missing the options. EDIT: MIMO lock applied.

Verify the High Performance option on the main ThrottleStop display to activate the Windows High Performance power plan. Execute a fresh log file with this adjustment along with the other modifications you’ve noted. I want to monitor when your machine operates at 0.8 GHz. This detail wasn’t visible in the log files you shared earlier. Within the FIVR interface, configure IccMax for both the core and cache to the highest value, 255.75.

Around 16:54 the issue began to worsen. Initially I believed it was resolved, but shortly after it started again. EDIT: after some playtime the stutters became much rarer with these adjustments.

Your device is still performing poorly. Have you installed any Lenovo power management tools? Remove anything associated with Lenovo. On the main ThrottleStop screen, look at the Speed Shift EPP section and where it shows 128, click that value and set it to 0. After playing a game, run another log file and share updated ThrottleStop screenshots so I can verify everything is correct. Does your battery still retain power? Some laptops experience problems as the charge diminishes.
